Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) is a natural anti-inflammatory powerhouse, which shoul not be ignored with the widely believed notion that chronic inflammation is known to be a contributor to many common Western diseases (1), (2). Curcumin can inhibit many molecules known to play major roles in inflammation (3) and is considered to be such a powerful anti-inflammatory that it matches the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs (4).
I have found turmeric tincture is useful for treating inflammation related aches and pains, thereby allowing people to lead a better quality of life without the nasty side effects of painkillers.
There are many ways to incorporate turmeric into your daily diet, though the way that I commonly suggest is to use a tincture. I add 5-6 drops of a turmeric tincture to my water every morning. That’s it!
Here in Hawaii, Turmeric (Olena) is a huge part of the natural healing and is a common addition to many medicine cabinets. For the plant to be used medicinally roots should be harvested after two years, for this is then the plant has been able to reach its fully maturity and potency.
When I have a mature plant (approximately two years old) I dig up the roots and take the time to thank the plant. Gratitude is key.

When starting a turmeric tincture, a select few people notice an increase in the amount of headaches they get or that they suddenly begin getting headaches. If this occurs, please decrease your daily dosage until you do not experience a headache. If ever unsure, please consult with a medical professional.
